The Story Behind the Diary

I have always been a self-development junkie, even if I did not know what it meant back then. I was always reading, watching documentaries, travelling and volunteering in many different organizations for one reason only: to get to know myself.

I was not sure about what I liked and did not like and was always filling my schedule with tons of things to do, leaving no time for breathing, my focus was only “do do do” hoping to get that “AHA moment” when I would find out my purpose in life. Multitasking was my way of being and I was really proud I could be so good at handling everything, but I was in a constant search for the perfect planner.

It all Started With a Dream

The first version of this diary was born in the autumn of 2013, on a piece of paper. I had no designing skills and had no idea that it would turn into something real, something that I would print out and use. After a few months, a friend of mine offered to help me with the design and luckily, for Christmas that year I had in my hands the first printable version of the diary. I was so happy and so grateful to be able to hold in my hand something that was once a thought.

I used it for almost a year until I found a professional designer that was able to re-design it for me and to be able to express the beauty that I wanted. This is how in Septemeber 2014, Plan Your Lifestyle Diary was launched on Estilo Tendances as a FREE diary. It was a week long, a printable diary that looked extremely cute and more importantly, proved to be extremely helpful to its user.

A year and a half later, I decided to upgrade it and add even more exercises that I learned about in the meantime. And this time I was able to do the design myself. I thought myself how to work with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe PhotoShop and below you have the result. I cannot express in words how happy I am with the outcome!

What Got Me To Create The Diary

In my search for the perfect planner, I found cute ones, but they all had issues. They were either too small, or too heavy, too simple, or with too many things and not enough space for my own words. Frustrated is the word you are looking for to describe how I felt. My purse was always filled with notes and my phone with reminders and more notes. Crazy, right?

Back in 2013, a big mindset change happened and I started focusing more and more on my self-development and I have learned how to let go of 90% of the things that were time-consuming. My whole life as I have known it had changed.

This is when things got really messy, not only I had my daily to-do list, but now I also had self-development habits to incorporate in my daily schedule.  I wanted so bad to find a planner that had daily exercises to keep me present, to keep me accountable and to make me feel good about myself.

Don’t get me wrong, there are countless of nice planners, but I wanted something beautiful, with a catching and colorful design, something stylish but helpful. Since I had no luck finding the perfect one, Evernote became my best friend, and every night I would type 2-3 self-development exercises.

But, not soon after, I found out about the power of writing and this whole Evernote idea started to sound like it needs an upgrade. So, what did I do? I started to create my own perfect self-development diary.
