How to make the RIGHT Decision? – #AskYourCoach

Welcome back to #Askyourcoach – How to make the RIGHT decision! It’s me again, Roswitha – your health coach at roswithaherman.com the place where women are happy, healthy, wealthy and fulfilled!

Every day, since the moment we open our eyes or day, is filled with decisions to be made: “Do I go there?”, “Do I buy that?”, “Do I eat this?” and some might be easy, while others might be pretty hard to make and you can find yourself in the middle of a situation where you have no idea what to do.

Today, I want to help you get through it!

Don’t know how to make the RIGHT decision?

People say that there are 2 ways which determine how you make up your mind and decide on a topic. If these 2 are in harmony, the decision is easily made, if not, well then you either follow your brain or you follow your heart. Right?

Let’s see what are the benefits of following your MIND:

  • it’s logic
  • it’s accurate, especially when your situation involves numbers or criteria
  • it’s analytic

What about the benefits of following your HEART:

  • it’s emotional
  • involves passion
  • it’s risky but you can win big

Looking at the 2 options, you might find that following your mind is the best choice. But, let’s dig a little deeper.

You know how they say “trust science” because it’s always right, it’s science?

When they first managed to genetically modify organisms, they said: “they have the same chemical structure, so it’s exactly like the natural organism”. After decades of experimenting, and the USA is one of the guinea pigs, they noticed that even if the organisms are chemically exactly the same, our body sees them differently and they have different outcomes. So, then how is science wrong? Aren’t the things that are logic, accurate and analytic the right ones for us?

Now, you might say, definitely, I will go with my heart. But, think it through, how many times you got angry and you said and did things you now regret? Wasn’t that decision made by your heart, by your emotions? Was that the right decision to make at that time?

As you can see, none of these is really helpful if taken separately. So, what do you do? How do you know how to make the right decision?

To make it easier, I thought of an example that might explain the secret lesson of always making the right choice!

Imagine you want to buy a car and you have 2 options:

  • You can go with the okay car, which is not brand new, but it fulfills all your needs and fits your budget
  • Or you can go with the brand new car, feel like a goddess, have full options, but pay more than you currently afford, so you will need a bigger loan

What do you do?

I mean, you want to feel rich and abundant and you have dreamed for years to own this brand new car, it is the perfect one for you, BUT should you invest so much money in a car, right now? Should you buy a cheaper one even if it’s not the dream car?

Your mind says go with the cheaper car while your heart says go with the expensive one, money will come, feel rich and you will attract abundance.

In this case, you actually go with neither.

This is what you could do to make the right decision

  • close your eyes
  • take a few deep breaths until you calm your body
  • meditate/say a prayer, whatever takes you to a calm and aware state 
  • and now listen to your gut while you ask

“Should I get the cheaper car?” or “Should I get the perfect car?

How did your body react to each question? Was it tense? Was it calm?

When our spirit, which lives in our gut (or so I like to think), agrees with something, your body is calm. If you feel any tension, then this is your spirit telling you that is not right for you. I feel the tension in my throat, it’s like all the muscles contract and I cannot breathe and cannot control it to relax.

A lot of people feel tension towards their heart and it’s almost hurting, they are so tense. You might also feel the tension in your stomach, again to the point that it hurts. These are the main areas where people feel tension.

Your gut never lies, because your spirit always knows what is best for you and if you listen and act accordingly, your life will get easier. The fear of missing out, or losing something will soon disappear because every time you find yourself in a difficult situation you will know what to do.

Practice this exercise as often as you can, until you can “read” your body very clearly. At first, you might not feel anything, but in time, especially if you learn to meditate (I recommend guided meditations where they ask you to focus on every part of your body) you will know in an instant what to do, each time.

I personally recomand Calm, Omvana or Headspace as guided meditation apps.

Do not give your power to others, do not let others decide for you! You have all the information and resources that you need to make the RIGHT decision, trust the divine who speaks through your spirit, your gut.

My clients always ask me what to do and when I tell them about this exercise, they feel empowered and they know that even if I am not always next to them, they will still be in good hands. Be empowered and make your own decisions!

You can do this! Now you know how to make the RIGHT decision every time!
